10 Things to do in Northern Ireland

As the busy summer season approaches, Northern Ireland becomes alive with festivals, events and activities! Here’s a quick look at what you can get up to this week.

India Week

Various locations, Belfast. June 22 – 29

The exotic sights, sounds and aromas of India are coming to Belfast for the city’s first India Week.  Venues throughout the city will play host to a wide range of events for all the family including an Indian bazaar at Belfast City Hall, cricket matches at Woodvale Cricket Club and Indian dance classes at Culturlann and Crescent Arts Centre.

Tyrone County Fleadh

Castlederg, Co. Tyrone, June 24 – 27

This year’s Tyrone Fleadh is being held in Castlederg and everyone is welcome to the town for a celebration of the very best traditional talent.



Citywide, Co. Londonderry, June 26 – 30

Ireland’s premier electronic music festival that will showcase the best in all forms of electronic music with local, national, and international DJs and live acts as well as film screenings, showcases, exhibitions, discussions and debates.



Mourne International Walking Festival 2013

Warrenpoint, Co. Down, June 28 – 30

Set within the spectacular scenery of the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there will be walks to suit all levels of fitness and ability with lowland routes as well as high level routes within the mountains.  On the Saturday night there will be a ‘Blister Ball’ which promises great fun, music and dancing.

Comber Potato Festival

Newtownards, Co. Down, June 29

A special event to celebrate one of Comber’s most famous exports, the Comber Potato, which was granted protected geographical indication status in 2012.  The festival will be a fun and educational event with great food and entertainment.



Island Hopper Kayaking Day Trip

Castle Ward, Strangford, Co. Down, June 29

See the stunning sights on an island hopping kayaking tour of Strangford Lough and watch the beautiful scenery go past as you paddle around the Lough under the supervision of the fully trained staff, stopping off at one of the islands for lunch.


Bangor 400 Seashore Festival

Bangor Town Centre, Co. Down, June 29 – 30

The town centre will be transformed to allow a variety of fabulous vehicles including mini-motos, go-karts and classic motorbikes do 400 laps of Bangor.  The HMS Bangor will be moored alongside the Eisenhower Pier and there will be a variety of other attractions to keep children entertained.


Irish Game Fair & Flavour Fine Food Festival

Shanes Castle, Co. Antrim, June 29 – 30.

An event for all the family including a Living History Village, shooting and fishing displays, animals galore, and a fine food festival.



Armagh Art Club Summer Exhibition

Armagh County Museum, Co. Armagh, June 29 – September 6

One of the most popular events in the museum’s calendar which offers everyone the opportunity to view paintings from the county and further afield.  You can also cast your eye over the paintings and see if you agree with the judge’s decision.

Donagh Festival

Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, June 30

Come along and enjoy the Donagh Festival with activities including a table quiz, a car treasure hunt, a duck race, fancy dress parade, tractor run and much more.
