If you’re looking for something to keep the kids entertained, then look no further.

To help you plan some fun-filled family breaks, we’ve pulled together a list of 8 great family activities to enjoy around Northern Ireland.

1. Ulster Museum:

From dinosaurs to an Egyptian Mummy, a trip to the Ulster Museum in Belfast can be a great way to introduce your family to the world of science, nature, history and art.  Think of this as learning, but in a unique and fun environment.  This is something that all the family will enjoy – your children will enjoy the many great exhibits on display, and parents, well you’ll all learn something new.

 2. Belfast Zoo:

One of the most popular visitor attractions in Northern Ireland, Belfast Zoo has something for everyone, and with over 140 species of animals including elephants, penguins, tiger and lemurs, there is lots for the family to see, and plenty to enjoy. One bit of advice if you are planning a trip to the zoo – be sure to bring your walking shoes, as you will be in for quite a walk, but an enjoyable one at that!

3. Exploris Aquarium:

A trip to the Exploris Aquarium in Portaferry and the Ards Peninsula should be high up on any families to do list, with the aquarium being home to a seal sanctuary and a wide range of marine life, you can also enjoy some great demonstrations from the experienced guides.

4. Aunt Sandra’s Candy Factory:

One way to ensure all the family will have a fun day, and something that will certainly put a smile on the kids face, is a trip to the popular Aunt Sandra’s Candy Factory in Belfast.
Using recipes that are over 100 years old, you can look forward to watching the skilled team make the candy that many of us enjoy whilst also looking  forward to sampling some of the candy being created; this could be reason enough to visit Belfast.

5. Tayto Factory:

Something of a national treasure in Northern Ireland, we all have memories when we think of Tayto crisps. The Tayto Factory in Tandragee is another popular visitor attraction in Northern Ireland with many schools, families and groups visiting throughout the year to enjoy the Tayto Factory Tour. The tour runs twice a day Mon – Thurs and once on a Friday, allowing your family to enjoy the full Tayto experience.

6. Annaginny Farm Park:

We all look forward to a trip to the farm, and for young families, a trip to Dungannon is a must, and more importantly, a trip to Annaginny Farm. Take the family along and enjoy a day on the farm as you get up close and personal with the animals, which include llamas, wallabies and emus. With a kids park, fishing lake, caravan park and BBQ facilities, you’re sure to enjoy a great day out or weekend at the farm.

7.Climb It!

Something new, unique and really rather spectacular has just arrived at W5 at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.
Climb It’ is an unusual mixture of physical fun, exploration and art and is a brand new exhibit soaring three stories high, where visitors can explore a custom designed climbing structure – which is a cross between a maze and a jungle gym!

The first of its kind in the UK and Ireland, Climb It is created from oval platforms suspended from steel pipes and cables allowing visitors to traverse over, under and through the amazing structure.

8. Pickie Fun Park:

No family activity list would be complete without an amusement park, and making our list is a park with a difference, Pickie Fun Park, which is in the seaside town of Bangor.
The park has enjoyed some investment in recent years, transforming it into one of Northern Ireland’s most popular parks and a must visit for any family break. With an adventure playground, crazy golf, electric car track and much more, Pickie Farm will not leave you short of things to do with the family and with great views of Bangor bay, it’s sure to be a great day out for all.
