Fermanagh Lakelands: The perfect three day itinerary

From stunning scenery to lakeside luxury, Fermanagh Lakelands is the ideal spot for a relaxing weekend away. To help you plan your perfect short break to Fermanagh, we’ve put together some ideas in this three day itinerary.

Day One

9am

With breathtaking scenery, 4* Crom Estate, a National Trust managed property is one of the most important nature reserves in these islands. A 2000 acre lakeside demesne, it is home to ancient woodland, tranquil islands, estate cottages, old Crom Castle and the largest heronry in Ireland.

11am

Get active at the Share Discovery Village where you can partake in activities such as canoeing, climbing, banana-skiing, windsurfing & much more.

3pm

Check into the 4* Westville Hotel where you can spend your first night in this beautiful, contemporary hotel in the centre of Enniskillen.

4.15pm

Take a boat trip on Lough Erne aboard the MV Kestrel from the Brook Park in Enniskillen.  The 1 ½ hour tour will take you to Devenish Island, the famous sixth century monastic site.

6.30pm

After your boat journey, head back to the hotel, relax and go for dinner in the delicious Terrace Restaurant.

8pm

Enjoy a night at the theatre in the Ardhowen Theatre, where drama, dance and music await you at this lakeshore theatre.

10pm

Wind down the evening in Blakes of the Hollow in the heart of Enniskillen. This original Victorian bar is untouched since 1887 & is a must see! You might even stumble upon a traditional music session.

Day Two

9am

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and head into Enniskillen town where you will find a blend of independent and brand stores, perfect for some early morning retail therapy.

For a unique Northern Ireland shopping experience head to the 19th century Buttermarket Craft and Design Centre for some locally made crafts. You can even watch the artists at work.

11am

Day two and another beautiful National Trust property to explore, this time, 4* Florence Court.

This eighteenth century historic mansion is set amongst parklands in the beautiful Fermanagh countryside, where you can can take a guided tour of the house and explore the stunning grounds afterwards at your leisure.

1pm

After exploring the grounds of Florence Court, travel a short distance to the award winning 4* Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark and explore Fermanagh’s fascinating underworld– beneath Cuilcagh Mountain. The scenic drive to the top of the mountain is a reward in itself!

3pm

At the end of your caving experience, hop in the car and drive the scenic loop from Belcoo to Garrison then visit the Lough Navar Viewpoint, which offers visitors panoramic views of Lower Lough Erne, and is said to be one of the best views in Ireland.

4.30pm

Check into the 5* Lough Erne Resort for your next luxurious night of accommodation.

Why not enjoy a round of golf on the Castle Hume Championship course or the Faldo course designed by Nick Faldo? Alternatively take some time out & treat yourself at the luxury Thai Spa.

7pm

After your golf or spa treatment, head to the resort’s Catalina Restaurant where you can enjoy a gourmet meal.

Day Three

9.30am

Following breakfast head to Blaney Spa & Yoga Centre, where you can relax in the surrounding scenic environment and enjoy a yoga session or massage.

12pm

Feeling refreshed, head to 4* Belleek Pottery, Ireland’s oldest and most famous potteries.

Here you can get a full tour of the factory and see the craftsmen at work as they create each individual piece.  Following your tour, don’t forget to go to the Visitor Centre & Museum where you can purchase your own keepsakes for home.

3pm

Enjoy the scenic drive from Belleek along Lower Lough Erne and visit Caldragh Cemetery on Boa Island where you will see one of Ireland’s most interesting pagan idols – the Janus Figure.

4pm

Stop off at Lusty Beg Island and try an outdoor activity at their activity centre or take it easy and opt for a leisurely lunch on the 75 acre private island.

5pm

Why not head off the beaten track and discover the beauty of Tully Castle just outside Enniskillen in Co. Fermanagh. This fortified house and bawn are set on Tully Point.

Don’t forget your camera…this is a picture perfect location!

6pm

Following your last day of sightseeing in the stunning Lakelands, check in for one final night of luxury at the wonderful 4* Enniskillen Hotel.
